Melba Hester Blozis

Melba HESTER BLOZIS, 75, 904 Conger Ave., died at 5:52 a.m. Friday at Crossroads Community Hospital.

She was born October the 4, 1909, at Mt. Vernon, a daughter of William A. and Mazzie (GIBBS) HESTER.

She was first married to Artie RICE and later married William J. BLOZIS on August 11, 1956 in Rockford. He survives.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at South Hickory Hill with the Rev. Elmer NICHOLS officiating. Friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. today and until noon Saturday at the Hughey Funeral Home. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery Sunday afternoon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Betty) NELSON of Racine, Wis.; 4 grandchildren, Tech. Sgt. Michael TROUT and wife Ofelia of Scott Air Force Base; Cynthia and husband Gerald HIGHMAN of Racine, Wis.; Sandra and husband Warren GRUND of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Scott D. NELSON of Racine, Wis.; 4 great-grandchildren and one niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Pearl and Earl D. HESTER.

She was a licensed beautician and was also employed at the Sherman Dress Factory for several years. She was a charter member of the VFW Post 1376 Auxiliary and a member of the Methodist faith.
