W. E. "Webb" Black

W. E. "Webb" Black of 920 Westcott street, a well known retired horse trainer and driver, died at 6;30 am today at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Black, who had been ill since the first of the year, was 73 years, five months and 24 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at Hopewell Church, with Dr. R. B. Guthrie officiating. The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call after 7:00 pm today. At 2:00 pm Friday the body will be taken to the family home, where friends may call until the funeral hour.

Mr. Black was born December 16, 1880, the son of Daniel and Myra (Haley) Black.

He was first married to Flora Manning, who preceded him in death.

On October 24, 1907 he was married to Julia Haley, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. A. Hudson of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Andrew Griffith of Centralia; a step-daughter, Mrs. Herman Rickfielder of Mulberry Grove; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Macedonia; and a sister, Mrs. Harvey Warren of Macedonia.
