Earl “Tom” “PeeWee” Bigley

Thomas Earl “Tom” “PeeWee” Bigley, 88, of Bluford, died 3:20 a.m. Jan. 5, 2007, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Bigley was born on June 17, 1918, in Roadhouse to John Thomas Bigley and Lydia Sarah (Taylor) Bigley.

He married Ira Mae (Ellis) on Jan. 15, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1989.

Mr. Bigley worked as a roofer for over 40 years with Neal Brothers Roofing until retirement.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Don Rector will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Jefferson County. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Bigley is survived by special friend Thelma Allen of Opdyke; sons Billy Earl Bigley and wife Judi of Joliet, Ronnie Bigley of Bluford, Kenneth Bigley and wife Linda of Bluford, Rodney Bigley and wife Susan of Bluford, Steven Bigley and wife Janet of Mt. Vernon, Stanley Bigley and wife Charlene of Mt. Vernon, and Michael Bigley of Bluford; daughter Neta Stuber and husband Curt of Mt. Vernon; twin sister Pearl Gibbs of Winchester; brother Jack Bigley and wife Imogene of Dix; twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

His parents, his wife, son Charles Richard “Ricky” Bigley, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Tom served with the Conservation Corps Camp in Mt. Vernon from 1939-40. He faithfully attended Howard Community Chapel and was a life time member of the King City Saddle Club.
