Dominic E. “Skeets” Betlejewski

Dominic E. “Skeets” Betlejewski, 89, of Scheller died 7:15 p.m. Jan. 31, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1915, in rural Scheller to Peter and Rose (Czerniejewski) Betlejewski.

He married Frances (Kerry) Betlejewski April 22, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo.

He was retired from W-G Motors, where he was an automotive technician for many years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church of Du Bois.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; five daughters, Norma Richardson and husband Steve of Scheller, Xenia Restoff and husband Raymond of Scheller, Judy Spotanski and husband Charles of Maryville, Rita Wyciskalla and husband George of Scheller and Donna Lamke and husband Roger of Scheller; a brother, Stanley Betlejewski of Sullivan, Mo.; two sisters, Emelia Klingler and Hedwig Kowalski, both of Scheller; three sisters-in-law, Marie Frisch, Alice Pyszka and Dorothy Kerry; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Holly Noel Blue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Church in Du Bois, with Monsignor Melvin Vandeloo and the Rev. Bert Iffert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Barbara’s Cemetery in Scheller. Graveside military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, with the rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. For those wishing, memorials may be made to VNA TIP Hospice of Centralia or St. Barbara’s Cemetery and will be accepted at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, where you may call 279-7272 for more information.
