Ida Helen Benard, 88, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Iuka died 7:55 a.m. April 11, 2005, at Doctor’s Health and Rehabilitation in Salem. .

She was a homemaker..

Mrs. Benard was born March 5, 1917, in Iuka to Kelly Newton and Jessie (Billings) Finn.

She married Lloyd Turner; he preceded her in death. She later married Lester Benard in Mt. Vernon; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow in Romine Prairie Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.

Mrs. Benard is survived by her husband, Lester Benard of Mt. Vernon; a son, Jim Turner of Iuka; a daughter, Helen Marie Miles of Glen Carbon; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Finn of Iuka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a daughter, Linda Sue Turner; three brothers, George, Albert and Louis Finn; and two sisters, Mary Finn and Florence Wyatt.

Mrs. Benard was a member of Bell Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
