Goldia Beckham

Goldie Beckham, 78, of Afton, Mo., and a former resident of 1209 S. 25th St., Mt. Vernon, died at 7 a.m. today at hwe home in Alton.

She was born in Macedonia on Jan. 29, 1901, the daughter of Butler and Ada (Shirley) Summers.

She married Harold H. Beckham and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1969.

She was a member of the Amvets Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Baril Chapel.

Burial will be in South Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Beckham is survived by four sons, Richard Work of Festus, Mo., Col. William G. Work of Webster Groves, Mo., Fred Work of St. Louis, Mo., and Frank Work of Robinson; one daughter, Christine Swan of Chicago; and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daugthers and one son.
