Lela Mae Bailey

Lela Mae Bailey, 78, of Bonnie died 7 a.m. Dec. 4, 2004, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Oct. 15, 1926, in Bonnie to John F. and Edna Mae (Clinton) Beard.

On June 7, 1954, she married Paul D. Bailey in Mt. Vernon; he survives.

She was an owner and antique dealer with Bonnie Trading Post in Bonnie.

Services were set for 1 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Kirk Cemetery in Ina. The Rev. Melvin Martin will officiate.

Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Survivors include her husband, Paul D. Bailey of Bonnie; son Ray Loss and wife Sue of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Laura Lemons and husband Roger of Mt. Vernon and Karen Robinson and husband Bob of Mt. Vernon; five step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and brother Bobby Wayne Beard and wife Elizabeth of Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Junior Beard, Ronald Dean Beard and Donald Foster Beard; and sisters LaVerne Alexander and Margie Dagg.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL, 62864.
