Effie L. Auten

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Effie L. Auten, 90, of Rupert, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 28 at the Rupert First Christian church, with the Rev. Rex R. Jones officiating. Burial was in Rupert cemetery.

Mrs. Auten died July 25 at the Cassia Memorial Hospital, Burley, Idaho.

She was born Dec. 17, 1884, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Alonzo and Sarah J. Waite Payne.

In 1907 at Mt. Vernon, she married Merritt Summers, who preceded her in death in 1917.

In 1921 at West Frankfort, she married Elmer Auten, sho preceded her in death in 1957.

Mrs. Auten attended schools in Illinois. She moved from Illinois in 1922 to the Acequia, Idaho area, where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the CWF of the Christian church, the Acequia Sewing Club, and the Rupert First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. George (Lillian) Bagnell, Rupert, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Cecile Summers, Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ray Summers, who died in 1974; four sisters; one brother; and her parents.
