Coy Robert "Bob" Andrews

Coy Robert "Bob" Andrews, 67 of Ocala, Fla., and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 12:03 pm May 31, 1993, at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.

Mr. Andrews was employed by State of Illinois as supervisor of grounds and maintenance of Mt. Vernon TB Hospital, which was later the Mt. Vernon State Office Building.

He was born Dec 17, 1925, in Grllespie, a son of Coy Walter and Mary Esther (Jackson) Andrews.

Feb. 1, 1947, he married Frances Lucille Tobin, who died Dec 17, 1959.

July 17, 1963, in Mt. Vernon, he married Betty Ann Weems, who survives.

Services will be 1 pm Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

Friends may call 5 to 8 pm Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Andrews is survived by two sons, Robert Timothy Andrews and wife, Cheryl, of Lexington, Ky., and Mark Alan Andrews of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters, Frances Diane Goddard and husband, Gary, of Dix, Stephanie Kay Medsker and husband, Chuck, of Lolo, Mont., Mary Celeste Diette and Valerie Michele Martin and husband, Curtis, both of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Marie Lindblad and husband, H. D., of Chicago and Barbara Sue Griggs and husband, Frank, of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Andrews was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and also attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. He was a member of AMVETS Post No. 4 of Mt. Vernon and an Army veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean conflict.

Mr. Andrews was the chief of Mt. Vernon Police Department Auxiliary for 24 years and retired from that position Oct. 1, 1987.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
