Henry S. Allen

Henry S. Allen Rites Thursday

Funeral services for Henry Stanton Allen will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Horse Prairie Baptist church wtih the Rev. Wayne Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Allen, 87, died at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Union Hospital at West Frankfort from burns received in a fire at a West Frankfort Nursing Home. It is reported that the fire occured when a wheelchair in which Mr. Allen was sitting became ignited while he was smoking.

He was born Aug. 26, 1876, in Jefferson county, the son of James and Mary (Martin) Allen.

He was first married to Amy Sulcer, who preceded him in death in Mar. 1940.

He later married Dolly Clampet, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Gale Allen of Orient, Ill; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Jones of Hobart, Ind., Mrs. Ralph Mc-Geehee and Mrs. Everett Boswell, both of Mt Vernon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
