James Monroe Swift

James Monroe SWIFT, son of Alfred Swift and Drucilla Jane MAXEY, daughter of Charles Hardy MAXEY were married following James Monroe Swift's return from the Civil War. He served in Co. A. 110th Regiment, Ill. Vol. having enlisted on Aug. 20, 1862 and served until the end of the war. Prior to his servide in the 110th he was a member of Co. A, 20th Ill. Infantry but was transferred after this unit was practically annihilated at Lookout Mountain and Chickamauga.

James and Druscilla had the following children:

  1. Alfred Ettis "Etts" Swift,
  2. Dr. Hardy MAXEY Swift,
  3. Ralph Herman Swift (died as an infant)
  4. Lulu Leedela Swift,
  5. William Waldo "Will Swift,
  6. Alva Raymond "Buck" Swift,
  7. Carrie Estella "Stella" Swift,
  8. Sarah Cecille "Sade" Swift,
  9. Roberta May Belle "Bertie" Swift, and
  10. MaryEmbly Grace Swift.
