Vearl C. Adams

Vearl C. (Sparky) and Lucille Adams and children, Dona Lois, and Gene, moved to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, in 1951 and later moved to Opdyke, where they have resided twenty years.

Sparky owned and operated a welding shop known SPARKY 460 WELDING, where he worked until his death on August 30, 1974. Sparky was fatally injured while doing welding for Dodds Grade School in Jefferson County.

In I965 Sparky helped build and start the Rural Fire Department Opdyke: he was fire chief until his death. His wife, Lucille, resides in Opdyke. The older son, Donald, and wife, Louise and two daughters live in Denver. Colorado. Daughter, Lois (Peggy) and husband, Robert Leon Glenn, with their five children, live in Jacksonville, Florida. Younger son, Gene, and wife, Charlene, live in Centralia, Illinois.
