JUD ADAMS
James Adams was a Union Soldier during the Civil War After the War he
and his family left Tennessee and came I Jefferson County. The family
consisted of James, his wife, and four children: Ed; Tillie; Martha:
and Richard (Jud).
Jud married Lucy J. Arnold. They had seven children Clyde: Troy: Oma
Eubanks; Evan: Procter; Walter; and Mertie Ham. They lived on a road
known as the Adams Gravel which is now 400 N.
Besides farming, the family had peach and apple orchard. trucking
company, a store, and an implement dealership. orchard was started in
the early 1920's and bulldozed out in the 1940's to make more room for
farming. The store was started by Jud and his boys in the early 1930's
and the Joh Deere implement dealership was started later in the 1930's.
Troy Adams was married to Nell Kirk of Ina on OctoberÂ1915 and they
had seven children: James: Dorothy Waylanc Bernice Taylor; Wayne; Harry;
Wesley: and Kenneth who died in infancy.
Jud Adams died in 1940 when he was struck by C&EI Freight train
on the crossing in front of his house. His wife, Lucy, died a few years
later. Troy's son, Wayne, was killed when a tractor overturned on him
in 1944 and his Wife Nell, died October 1. 1966. In 1969 Troy married Noma
Webb of Ina.
All other children are still living. James married Jane Bliss of Ina
and they have nine children. Dorothy married Nelson Wayland from Opdyke:
they have five children. Bernice married Chester Taylor of Bonnie and
they have five children. Harry was married to Judy Howard of Mobile,
Alabama a they had three children. Later they were divorced and he
married Dora Cox of Mt. Vernon. Wesley married Louise Hugh of Bonnie
They have two children, Kathy who married Carl D. Turner of Mt. Vernon
and Linda who married Kenny Piercy of Mt. Vernon. A son, Kenneth Dwaine Jr.
died in infancy.
All the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. live in the
Bonnie area except for Dorothy Wayland and Bernice Taylor and their
families.
